What’s in it for me?!

Penistone Leisure Centre is run almost completely by Volunteers, hence our tagline ‘Led by the community- For the community’.

This obviously means we rely heavily on volunteer hours for keeping the centre open, progressing and improving! We work alongside Community Action Barnsley to promote volunteering in the community, and to make Penistone Leisure Centre a rewarding place to be!

We hope our volunteers would agree that it’s a great place to give back! By volunteering you can qualify for excellent benefits such as;

  • A Free Weekly Gym Pass for Volunteering 2hrs per week OR
  • Free access to one class per week OR
  • Stamps on a card which add up to holding a free Kids Party at the Leisure Centre, and free skating for your kids during any skates session you are a volunteer at AND
  • Excellent training opportunities, such as First Aid at Work, and for suitable candidates, we’ll even consider funding Gym Instructor training!

Other benefits include making friends, sense of achievement, AND it looks great on your CV!

There are lots of different types of volunteer opportunities, from being a trustee, to maintenance, to reception duties, to manning the tuck shop, or even fundraising, there really is something to suit everyone.

Here are some of our Volunteers, Mark and Richard having fun at the First Aid Training Session on Sunday!

A massive ‘Thank you!’ to Chris Wragg from Emergency Response Training Limited for the excellent information and entertaining session on Sunday 21st January!
