We’ve Hit 25% of Our Crowd-Funding for our ‘Health and Wellbeing Cafe’…

08/04/2020 by Rachel Gibbons Leave a Comment

… You may have seen our Crowdfunding project to raise £3,000 towards the ‘Health and Wellbeing Cafe’.

We’ve just hit £750 towards the £3k target, which means we should qualify for a further £1,500 towards the project from Barnsley Council (hopefully), which will take us up to 75% funding! Are you able to help us raise the final £750?

There are three ways you can help-

  1. Cough up! If you have a few pounds spare and would like to help us create a valuable community space for people to come together after all of this is over (seems more important than ever now!). We know times are tough for everyone at the moment, so we don’t expect much, but if we don’t hit our £3,000 target, then we don’t get ANY of the pledged money. Could you spare your usual ‘Gym membership’ money or the cost of a coffee or two?
  2. If you work for AVIVA, or know anyone who does, then please pledge your £15 worth of ‘Aviva Community Fund’ money towards our project. So far £375 of our total has come from the Aviva employees!
  3. SHARE SHARE SHARE! If you can’t help financially, or don’t know any Aviva Employees then please Share our appeal! Your contacts may be able to help us, and getting word out about what we do, is one of the biggest challenges we face!

There are still a couple of tradespeople working on site on the refurbishment project at Penistone Leisure Centre, so there is slow progress happening. But staff have had to be furloughed, and the centre remains closed to the public for the foreseeable future. Look our for our ‘video tour’ of the work so far, which we’ll be sharing tomorrow.

Many of our fantastic volunteers have diverted their efforts towards ‘Love Thy Penistone’ the brilliant community group that has been formed to look after the vulnerable residents of our area during the lock-down. If you could offer help to your neighbours, or if you need help- click the link to ‘Love Thy Penistone’ and register your details there!

We have a fantastic community here in Penistone. Let’s look after each other at this hard time!
