Building work is progressing fast and has now moved round to the Weights room. Unfortunately that means we are going to have to close the Weights room for a week from the 9th to 13th of March. Most of the mobile items of gym equipment (free weights and benches etc) from the weights room will be put into the back room temporarily and will be available to use for £1.50 per session.
The closure is so that the Builders can cut the large windows through from what is currently the Weights room (But will eventually become the cafe area!) into the main hall. And to make the new doorway into the weights room through what is currently the shower. When completed, this will mean people aren’t walking through the main hall to get into the café and they can sit with a coffee and watch what is going on.

The Cardio Room is available to use again from this Saturday 7th March, but is still a bit of a work in progress! The builders have cut through the wall to install an external door, which will link through to form the access to the new back room gym eventually.
You should be able to see major progress in other areas of the centre’s renovations now. The new back room is finished (building wise, not decoration wise!) and the new ‘Skate Store’ area isn’t going to be far off complete soon!

We are at the ‘knocking everything down’ stage and the satisfying bit is yet to come- the ‘building it back up again’ stage! The builders are getting all this demolition work done while the main part of the centre is closed, then the quieter and cleaner work will happen once we are open again.
In summary:
- Early mornings. Mon and Wed 6-7:30am – Back room weights, cardio room only
- Daytimes. Usual times as on gym page – Back room only with weights and cardio. Mon, Wed, Thu, Fri. Not open Tuesday.
- Evenings. Usual times as on gym page – Back room weights, cardio room only
Please bear with us through this chaotic period! We’re working really hard to try and keep disruption to a minimum, but obviously work on this scale will always cause temporary pain, for a long term gain!
