Our brill volunteers braved the sunshine and worked hard to smarten up the front of the centre and to plan the plants which had been donated by local folk, and our friends at Springvale Community Gardens, and Tesco. Big thank you to Volunteer Chris who has taken the lead on getting out front smartened up. It’s looking great!

Chris and the team have planted Strawberries, Tomatoes, and various herbs along with various decorative plants and shrubs too.

You can share as much or as little of your time, skills and money as you like! We need many hands to keep the place going, and any help is massively appreciated.

Last Sunday we held a volunteer day, to improve the outside appearance of the Centre. Lots of progress was made cutting back the overgrown areas, and taking down some broken and unsightly fencing! The front of the centre is now looking much more smart and tidy. If anyone knows someone who might be able to help us repair a small area of drystone wall which has crumbled on one side, we would be delighted to hear from them- it’s a small job (we think!) and we have the stone, we just need someone with the expertise!

We hope to create a small garden area, cultivating herbs, salads and vegetables that could be used in the cafe, as well as a more attractive and welcoming landscaped area in front of the fence with low maintenance shrubs and wildflowers.

We plan to have another garden volunteer session at 2pm on Wednesday afternoon 9 June. Twiggs https://www.facebook.com/Twiggscleangreen/are going to come along and help.

If you have any surplus shrubs, flower or vegetable seedlings that you would like to donate, please bring them along to the Centre just before 9 June. If you need help with digging out shrubs and transporting them, Twiggs can help.
