What’s on at the Youth Club for Older People?

June 27, 2019 by Frances Greenwood Leave a Comment

PenActive, our youth club for older people, has been lots of fun so far and we have a further three sessions before we break up for summer holidays!

Our next session is on Tuesday 2nd July from 1:30-3:30pm. You can enjoy a taster session of SOSA Dance fitness with Sheila Frampton! SOSA is a fun dance based fitness class and Sheila can help you to enjoy dance whatever your level of ability!

As always, there will be time to relax and socialise too and gym inductions will be available to PenActive attendees with our fab volunteer gym instructor Alison who supports this session.

In the next few weeks we have tasters of Chair Aerobics, and Tai Chi, then PenActive will break up for the summer holidays.

PenActive is totally FREE and aimed at helping people over 55 to stay fit and healthy and to socialise. It is run thanks to funding from Penistone Ward Alliance and Barnsley Council.

Even more Easter activities

Group artists sqSince last week, lots more classes have been added to our Children’s Easter Holiday Timetable. Kids can now do Boogie Bounce – a fun fitness session on mini trampolines. There will be multisports sessions where they can do a mix of fencing, archery, dodgeball, football, goal ball and athletics games. Mums, dads and children can come together for some self defence training – you never know when it might be useful. And there are still places at Art Explosion, Jungle Yoga, Beginner Skating Lessons and Skating Skills. You can find out more about all these sessions on our Easter Holiday page.

Female Walking Football

February 16, 2016 by Jamie Woodhouse Leave a Comment

A new session is starting from next week for women who like football, but who would prefer a slower version of the game. Walking football is suitable for any fitness level and for anyone over 16 and is just as competitive as the full game – we hope to be part of a league with other female walking football groups also starting in the area.

Walking football is on Tuesdays from 1-2pm from 23rd February. Funding to start these sessions is being provided by ‘Mars Just Play’ through Sheffield and Hallamshire County FA, so for the first 10 weeks the cost will be £2, but this price will need to go up after then.

Please contact Jamie for more information on 01226 766235 or 07544 113616. No booking necessary, just turn up.
