Would you like to come on a skate tour with us along the Trans Pennine Trail?
Penistone Skate School is raising money in support of Penistone Leisure Centre, we would love for you to join us!
There are 2 challenges, both starting on the Trans Pennine Trail at Penistone on Sunday 13th August
– 3.5 mile route – open to skaters who can do a good heel brake stop (or other stop)
– 1 mile route – open to anyone aged 5+ who can skate unaided

This is open to adults and children, and you can choose whether to make a £20 donation for the tour, or raise sponsorship of at least £20. All money goes towards buying new skates. Supporting adults welcome (but optional) on skates / cycles for the 3.5 mile route or on foot/ skates for the 1 mile route. Bring a picnic to eat on the route for both challenges.
Qualified skate instructor Rachel will be there to help you improve your skills and support you on the route. The one mile route is completely off road and on a flat, tarmacked trail. The 3.5 mile route includes slopes and some time on a cul-de-sac next to the trail, practicing jumping off kerbs and other tricks. How much of this you take part in is up to you.
Skates, pads and helmets can be provided – please request on the booking form below. Pads and helmets must be worn.

About the route:
Skaters on the 3.5 mile route will start at St. John’s Community Centre, Penistone, meeting from 10am (to start at 10:30am). They will join the 1 mile skaters on the trail at the bridge over Green Road near Springvale school, who will meet there from 11:15am (to start at 11:45am). We’ll all have our picnic lunch together at Oxspring Sidings and the 1 mile skaters will finish at the bridge over Roughbirchworth Lane (opposite Oxspring Park) at around 2pm. The 3.5 mile skaters will continue on to the bridge on Cote Lane, Thurgoland (uphill from The Bridge Inn) and are expected to finish at around 3:30pm.

In the event of heavy rain, we may have to postpone or cancel as the trail will become slippery.
We will need a few adults to help at the starts / finishes, skating/ walking/ cycling with the group, and to transfer some skating adults back to pick up cars. Please let Rachel know if you can.
Any questions, ring/text Rachel on 07861 680237 or email rachel@penistoneleisurecentre.org.uk
