We would like to say a HUGE Halloween style thank you to all that came to our Halloween Skate Party on Saturday…we hope you all had as much fun as we had! All the costumes were very creative, and we loved seeing the effort that you all put in. We’ve added a few of the pics from the party at the cafe below @thehubcommunitycafe made all the food for the party… we think they did an amazing job… loved those spooky buns and scary burgers! We also cannot forget all our volunteers that came and helped make the party happen too! from all of our team at PLC it’s a great big THANK YOU! We are on the lookout for a new skate instructor!
We are on the lookout for a new skate instructor to take over from Rachel @ PLC… if you know of anyone – give them a nudge!
Rachel our chair of trustees has run the skating lessons for 7 years and is now
looking for someone who would like to be trained up to coach the skating classes at Penistone Leisure Centre.
I now have a new full time job which will mean I’m not around as much, and it’s time for me to move on. I don’t want to leave the centre
without someone to take the classes, as skating is such a big activity there.
I am going to continue until Christmas, and during that time I would like to train a new coach and help them through their ICP training to become a certified instructor. It could suit one adult, or maybe a parent and teenage child – my son Davy (below) and I used to run the classes before he left for University. It was a great activity to do together, I really enjoyed it and it has given him a qualification and experience for getting a job later. As an adult, it is 4 hours of paid work in a week, and could also lead on to other things, or just be something fun and different to the rest of your week.
You need to be a competent skater, but I’m happy to help you learn the more advanced skills over the next few months, as well as show you how to teach them.

Our spooktastic Halloween skate party
Come along to our spoooooky Skate party on the SATURDAY 29th of October. There will be goulish snacks, fancy dress parade, prizes to be won
and guaranteed goulfest games to keep everyone in the Halloween spirit! Tickets will be able to be spooked ( oops! I meant booked ) by the beginning of next week…
so keep a look out of social media and our website. It’ll be a spookily good skate party… make sure you get a ticket in advance! WOOOOO ha ha ha ha !! ( cue spooky cackling ! )
New football session with Active Club
Do your kids love Football?? ( or do you and want to get your kids into the game? )
Why not try an introduction to football through out fun, skills and games based sessions for 3, 4 and 5 year olds.
or on the same day we also have:
A football development session for 6-11 year olds with our UEFA/FA licensed coaches.
Suitable for girls and boys of all abilities. With the opportunity to progress into our Active Academy Elite team.
The sessions are ran by our UEFA/FA qualified coaches.
