We are really pleased to say that PenActive will restart at Penistone Leisure Centre from Tuesday 8th June at 1:30-3:30pm.
PenActive is our ‘Youth Club for Older People’! The session is aimed at people aged 60+ and is a mix of social time and activities to keep you fit and healthy. The gym is open for an exclusive 60+ session too, which is included in the PenActive entry price of £3.
The sessions generally start with a cuppa and a chat in the café, then on to an activity (we schedule different sessions each week) or, if you don’t fancy this week’s activity, there is access to the gym for a 50+ session with a gym instructor on hand from 2pm to help you if you need it. We have table tennis tables, and badminton available too, so there are always alternative activities on offer. Past activities have included- Walking Hockey, Boxercise, Chair Aerobics, Roller Skating, Dancing, Pilates, and more!
The first session is a ‘welcome back’ session. We won’t schedule an activity for this session, but we will have a catch up, and go through the way sessions will have to operate whilst Covid restrictions are still in place. The gym will be open for people who have already had a gym induction, and if you haven’t- we will be able to get you booked in for one for you.
We have plans for the following weeks to put on Walking Netball, a Guided Walk, Modified HIIT and Chair Aerobics sessions (not necessarily in that order).
We are on the look out for a chatty and fun volunteer to come along and work with existing volunteers with this session, so if this sounds like you, we’d love to hear from you! You can book your PenActive session via our website here– or just pay when you arrive and we will take your details then for track and trace purposes. In line with current government guidelines, masks must be worn inside the Leisure Centre unless you are exercising or eating/drinking.
