12 Days of Giving

Ecclesiastical is launching a wonderful 12 day event and will donate £1000 to 10 charities every day from 7th to the 22nd December and the Leisure Centre could be one of those charities. We need to get as many nominations as we can in order to have a chance of receiving a donation so please help to make it happen. It couldn’t be easier!

All you have to do is click on the ‘Nominate us’ button and then scroll down the page it takes you to and you will be able to nominate us. It will take around 2 minutes to do!

Please give us a SHARE and pass this information on to everyone who would like to support the Leisure Centre.

It will take just a few moments of your time and if you have been impressed with the changes you have seen at the leisure centre so far, we can achieve even more great things with this extra financial boost!

Help us win £1,000!

You may recall last year us asking you to nominate us as part of Ecclesiastical Insurance’s 12 days of giving.

Again, this year Ecclesiastical are giving away £1,000 to 10 charities per day for 12 days in December. It’s basically a draw, so the more entries we get, the better our chances of getting our name pulled out of the hat!

It takes LITERALLY TWO MINUTES to enter us in to the draw- You’ll need to know our charity number- 1157786 and name- Sporting Penistone, then you just enter an email address (though they won’t email you unless you tick the box to say you’d like to hear from them!) and write a sentence or two about why you think we deserve the money (It’ll come in very handy for the renovation project!)

Where’s the Money Coming From?

Hugely ambitious plans need a lot of funding! You told us what you wanted for Penistone Leisure Centre, and we aim to deliver it. We have broken the work down into projects and applied to different funders for each part.

Below is a visual representation of the funding that we have already secured and money we still need to fundraise. As you can see, we’ve already raised well over half of what we need – 61% in fact, with 19% more we are hoping to raise from applications we have in progress. However, there’s that last 20% – so still a lot to do!

Funding has come from:

£166,000 from EPIP (East Peak Innovation Partnership) for Project 1 – for structure and core work

£60,000 from BMBC Section 106 for Project 1 – for structure and core work

£26,800 – Our own funds for preparation work

£2000 – Mayor’s fund in 2018 and 2019 towards preparation work and critical repairs

£4440 Public donations towards leaking roof

£25,000 from Blackstone Edge Wind Farm Community Benefits Fund – for energy efficiency works

£530 raised by Sponsored skate and £70 from cake bakes towards windows from hall to cafe

£10,000 towards landscaping at the front of the centre to make disabled access ramp

£2,078.53 Co-op- towards the disabled access ramp

£1000 from Ecclesiastical’s Movement for Good awards, towards project 1

We’d love to win this grant of £1000 from Ecclesiastical Insurance! They are allowing members of the public to nominate a charity of their choosing to win £1000 each! Ecclesiastical will select 500 charities at random to win, so the more entries we get, the better our chances of winning!
