DDMIX Dance fitness class is moving from Thursdays to 7:30pm on Wednesdays as of Wed 03/07/19.
Who’s up for joining Melanie for a trip around the world in 60 minutes? Melanie teaches over 30 styles of dance in her fun class, so no two classes will ever be the same!
Classes cost £6 or book four in advance for £20, making it just £5 per class!
Who’s coming to our new class- SOSA! The first class is this evening from 6-6:45 in the small room! There is also a daytime class starting on Mondays mornings from 10:30-11:15am.
SOSA is a dance based fitness class!
SOSA is open to everyone – all shapes, sizes and abilities – and all ages. It’s about having fun and getting fit without realising it. The routines are high-energy but low-impact and we make sure no one is left struggling at the back. You don’t need a partner, so don’t be afraid to come on your own!

SOSA starts at Penistone Leisure Centre on Thursday 25th April at 6-6:45pm in the small room, and on Monday 29th mornings 10:30-11:15am
SOSA (SOlo SAlsa) is a Dance Fitness Class! Lots of people love to dance- so this is a great way to keep fit for them. SOSA includes Salsa, Latin, Ballroom and other international dance styles, but you don’t have to have a partner or the confidence to go it alone. SOSA is a class that includes authentic dance steps and body styling in a fusion of dance and fitness.
The choreography has been made easy – great songs and soundtracks! SOSA is designed with beginners in mind- you learn the steps to a routine and then dance it – so everyone is up and dancing straight away but with some knowledge of the steps first. For the more experienced dancers, there’s the option of advanced steps and body styling.

SOSA Dance is at Penistone Leisure Centre on Mondays at 10.30-11.15am and on Thursdays at 6-6.45 pm. Classes cost £4 pay as you go, and there are loyalty cards for people who want to pay for 6 classes in advance.
Diverse Dance Mix is a Dance class with a difference! It’s an eclectic blend of 26 dance styles from around the world, so no class will ever be the same!

“The aim of DDMIX is to get people moving without being intimidated by the word ‘dance’ or the technicality of the steps, but instead to give a full body workout that is such fun that you don’t even notice that you are exercising. With the vast number of dance styles around the world to choose from, no one will ever get bored!”
The class was devised by Dame Darcey Bussell (of the Royal Ballet & Strictly Come Dancing!) and is choreographed by herself and Nathan Clarke.
The DDMIX Website describes the classes-
“We have a passion for dance-based fitness and believe the best way of getting fit is by doing something you enjoy. By participating in dance, you can achieve your goals by not looking upon exercise as a chore. We love group exercise classes with non-correctional instruction, that are fun and all inclusive.
Darcey wanted to create a program using segments of dance from around the world, providing great variety with a western touch. Given her deep interest in all forms of dance and having danced nearly all genres from her classical ballet base, the DDMIX adventure began. She contacted her good friend and talented choreographer and dancer Nathan Clarke, with whom she has worked on Viva La Diva, Darcey Dances Hollywood and the closing ceremony of the London Olympics. On hearing her idea Nathan agreed to join Darcey and they started working on the choreography for the first DDMIX. “
