As some of you may already know, we have taken on a contract with NHS Cardiac Rehabilitation Service. This means that the centre will be used as a venue for helping people to regain their fitness after a cardiac incident, under the care of NHS health professionals.
This was a fantastic opportunity for the Leisure Centre, as it allows us to make use of the centre during day times, when the centre is not normally busy. It will provide a much needed boost to our regular income.
We have converted the space at the far end of the hall to be useful storage cupboards which will be given over to the NHS Staff for storing the equipment that they need to use in their sessions.
The Cricket Nets have been moved to the far end of the hall too, and will be stored (winched up) above these cupboards in the green vinyl storage you can see at the top of the picture here.

The new cupboards are looking smart, but we need a volunteer (or a couple from the same household) to volunteer some time to come along and sand/paint the insides of the spaces so that they are smart and clean ready for the equipment. If anyone fancies a ‘lockdown project’ please contact us on info@penistoneleisurecentre.org.uk and we’ll arrange a time for you to come in! There are a million of these ‘little projects’ at the centre- if you are interested in volunteering your time, we would love to hear from you.
