cafe refurbishment

We are still eager to hear from as many volunteers as possible to help with our community cafes refurbishment, any DIY enthusiasts? Are you good with a paint brush?

If the answer is YES!?! Please get in contact either call: 01226 763949 or email: info@penistoneleisurecentre.org.uk we will also have a refurb sign on sheet at reception to register your interest.

Dates to remember: Saturday 3rd – Thursday 8th September cafe CLOSED for mini refresh of cafe facillities. Dates we require help Friday 2nd – Sunday 4th September.

As a result, public skating will still run on the Saturday with a tuck shop only, so unfortunately no delicious hot or cold meals from the cafe that day and Sunday 4th public skating will also not be able to take place. There may be more classes affected. Keep a look out on our facebook page. BUT… if you normally head to skating or a class why not come along and help with some of the DIY? As always, we need as many volunteers as possible to make this cafe refurb really special!

There is an idea brewing… we need to find as much retro sports kit for our cafe refurb! Shell our catering manager has a great idea… but she needs your help!
I’ve managed to get a retro Dunlop racquet to add to the stash! (see pic)

This is where we need your help! You get to be a part of this too…the fun bits!

We are looking for donations of any:
retro sports equipment,
roller skates,
badminton rackets,
shuttle cocks,
weights to be upcycled,
photos of you ‘back in the day’ playing sports (ideally black and white or the ability to edit into black and white … that you are happy to be put on display),
old leisure books or artwork,
old school radio/cd player/record player or anything else that you think may be of interest.
It has absolutely got to bring the old days of sports, leisure and community in to our new cafe space…

Other items out for request are;
clean and rust free golden syrup and treacle tins of varying sizes,
quirky bottles and jars,
offcuts of ribbon and hessian,
tester pots of paint,
craft embellishments,
small terracotta or brightly coloured pots
any offcuts of succulent or ever green house plants you can spare.
