Get your skates on for half term!

We have 4 extra sessions of skating for you in half term: Monday 20th, Tuesday 21st, Wednesday 22nd and Friday 24th of February, all from 2-4pm. There are also the usual weekend skates from 12-2pm on both Saturdays and 10am-12 on both Sundays. You can also book for Kids Boogie Bounce, which is on Friday 24th 11-11:30am. All of our skating sessions will be run by volunteers, so please give them a big smile! If you could help us in another holiday or weekend, please talk to one of them and see what is involved, call/text Rachel on 0794 7991727 or email skating@penistoneleisurecentre.org.uk.

Note: there isn’t a skating session on Thursday 23rd and there isn’t a disco skate for years 7-10 on Friday 24th (there is a disco skate on the 17th).

Book now for the Summer Holiday

The Summer Holiday is nearly here and bookings are open for all of our holiday activities.

LeighBoxing match is running kids/teens Boxing Skills and Get Active sessions from 10am-12 every Tuesday for 10-15yr olds. She is a fully qualified ABA level 2 boxing coach as well as competition boxer – in 2012 she become Yorkshire champion in her category and came second in the national championships. She will be passing on some of her skills and techniques to young people in these sessions. Boxing costs £8 for 2hrs. You can just turn up, but even better is to book by calling Leigh on 07979 006402.

Kids Boogie BounceClaire is running kids Boogie Bounce, a fun session on mini trampolines with disco lights and music. It is on Fridays from 11-11:40am from 5th August. Kids Boogie Bounce is suitable for age 6 years and above and costs £4. Please phone Claire on 07974 178953 for enquiries or to book.

Group artists sqRuth and Jude are running their popular Art Explosion day again this holiday – this time with a beach theme. Art Explosion is a one-off on Tuesday 30th August, so book early by calling Ruth on 07970 109161. It runs from 9:30am-1:30pm and is £13 for 4hrs including a lunch break – please bring a pack-up. Art Explosion is for children aged 6-12yrs and there are a maximum of 20 places.

_12F2666Rachel and Davy are running Skating Lessons on the first 3 Wednesdays of the holiday (20th, 27th July, 3rd August) to get you skating in time for all the public sessions over the summer. The session is for beginners who want to learn how to skate forwards, stop and go round corners – and also for intermediate skaters who can already get around on skates but want to learn some new skills. Skating lessons cost £6 and are from 11:30am-1:30pm, including a lunch break – please bring a pack-up. Phone Rachel to book on 0794 7991727.

Half term fun!

There is lots going on at May Bank Half Term (28th May-5th June) at Penistone Leisure Centre.

Public Skating:

Skating for all ages from toddlers to teens to grandparents, £2 including skate hire. Get everyone out for some fitness together. Spectators are free and there is a tuck shop selling drinks and snacks which you can eat in our café area. No need to book, just turn up.

  • Mon 2-4pm – All
  • Tues 2-4pm – Fast
  • Wed 2-4pm – All
  • Thurs 2-4pm – Family
  • Fri 2-4pm – All

Weekend sessions continue as normal:

  • Sat 12-2pm Family
  • Sun 12-2pm – All

Note that the usual Friday 8-10pm session for young people aged 11+ is not running on 3rd June due to volunteer holidays. However, young people aged 11 and over are welcome to come to any of the other holiday sessions unaccompanied, except the family sessions which are aimed at younger children with their parents.

Skating - Davy jumpingRachel will be teaching beginners and Davy will challenge you with some more exciting skills in this taster skating lesson at a level to suit you. The lesson is £5 and includes skate hire. We will have a break in the middle where you can bring your own snack or buy one from our tuck shop. Book by calling Rachel on 0794 7991727.

Kid’s Boogie Bounce

Kid's Boogie Bounce - high and wide! This half term there will be two Kid’s Boogie Bounce sessions, where children can bounce along to music and disco lights. These energetic sessions are on Tuesday 31st May 10:30-11:30am and Friday 3rd June 11am-12 and cost £4.

Gym on 18th May

On 18th May, Martyn will be shutting the gym a little early at 7:30pm because Liverpool are in the final of the UEFA cup and kick-off is at 7:45pm. Apologies, but Martyn hopes you will understand!

Less enthusiastic Liverpool fan, Claire, will still be running the Boogie Bounce classes.
