Photo Diary: The Waiting Area

30/05/2020 by Frances Greenwood Leave a Comment

You can see here that the builders have been working hard!

This is what is going to be the waiting area (for when you are waiting for another class to finish to join the next one, or when you have collected your skates and need to sit down to pop them on before going into the hall).

Here you can see that the builders have widened the doorway which used to lead to the kitchen, party room and ladies toilets/showers.

Next, the builders have taken down the wall between the two doorways (in front of the builder in the picture to make the space large enough, and built a new stud wall to separate the new commercial kitchen from the new waiting area. There will also be a water fountain in the waiting area, so you can fill your reusable water bottles- saving you money and helping the environment!

This picture shows the new stud wall creating the kitchen, and making a good sized waiting area

You’ll access the waiting area by walking from reception through the new corridor which has been formed by knocking through the old gents loos and party room. This corridor has windows through into the hall, so you’ll be able to see what activities are going on in there too. The corridor means you will not need to walk through classes to access the gym, or activities going on in other rooms.

Reorganising the interior of PLC has been a major part of the work funded by EPIP and BMBC Section 106 funds. It should make the centre work much more efficiently for classes etc.

We can’t wait to show you all the progress… Though there’s rather a lot of cleaning to do first…
