Next Tuesday the 17th December from 1:30-3:30pm is our PenActive (Youth Club for Older People!) Christmas Party! Tacky Christmas jumpers and festive apparel are actively encouraged…
We’re arranging music and dancing (thanks to group members for leading the dancing), along with party food and plenty of time to socialise as usual… We are also getting the NERF GUNS OUT, at the special request of certain group members, so if you’re 50+ but feel like a big kid at heart, then come on down and play!
The group then breaks up over the Christmas Holidays until Tuesday January 7th at 1:30-3:30pm.

We’d like to take the opportunity to look back on what PenActive has achieved this the last year. It has brought people together and given them the chance to forge new friendships, and it has also given lots of people the opportunity to try new activities which they may not have done otherwise. Only last week one of our group members was telling us that he had tried Pilates at PenActive and now goes to a weekly class which he is really enjoying.
The continued success of PenActive is largely down to our wonderful volunteers, Louise and Meghan who have given their time to facilitate the group, and volunteer Gym Instructor Alison, who has made sure anyone wanting to use the gym has been inducted and has help to use the gym safely. Meghan has recently gone to Australia for 3 months, so we will be welcoming Christine after Christmas to help at PenActive. Without the volunteers this group could not run, and we are very proud of what they have achieved as the sessions go from strength to strength. I’m sure you’ll join us in saying a massive ‘Thank You’ to them!
PenActive was able to start up, thanks to funding from Penistone Ward Alliance and BMBC. This funding runs out in the new year, so from February 2020 the group will operate a ‘suggested donation’ of £3 per person. This will go into a kitty to cover room hire, refreshments, and getting coaches to come and teach classes. If you haven’t been before, why not come along in January to try a session for free, and see if it’s a group that can benefit you!
