We get told time and time again how much people would like to get our news through Facebook – and yet no one has quite found the time to set it up. Are you a Facebook fan – and could you help us out? We need a business page setting up for Penistone Leisure Centre – and a person or people who could add news to it and monitor it. Please get in touch if you could help us out, by email or talk to a volunteer when you are next at the centre.
There will be a taster skating lesson in half term on Tuesday 31st May from 12-1:30pm. It will be for adults and children of any ability, as Rachel will take beginners and Davy will do some more exciting things with skaters who want to learn some new skills. There will also be a new block of skating lessons starting after half term, which is open for bookings.
To book either the taster lesson or the block, please call Rachel on 0794 7991727.
The Teens (11+) skate is cancelled on Friday 3rd June 8-10pm (during half term) due to volunteer holidays. However, there is still a Teens skate on 27th May at the start of half term.
Is there anyone who is comfortable with this age group who could occasionally help out to cover holidays? It’s a shame to have to cancel the session as the young people have such a good time. The main jobs are the same as for any other skating session – signing people in, handing out skates and manning the tuck shop – with just a bit of extra crowd control thrown in. We would do a DBS check on anyone volunteering in this session as the young people are unaccompanied. We would ensure there were 2 other volunteers with you in this session.
A big thanks to Ron for getting our disco lights up and running – they can now be used easily at just the flick of a few switches and look fabulous.
These pictures are from our popular 11+ skating session on Friday nights from 8-10pm. Young people can come and have fun with their friends for a great start to their weekend. The session is always supervised by staff who are DBS (child protection) checked and there is a first aider present. All we need from you is a contact form, which you can fill in when you drop them off for the first time.
The disco lights can also be used at parties to create a lively atmosphere – just ask for them when you book.
And Boogie Bounce classes are using the disco lights as well, for more fun while you get fit.
A big thanks to Sarah at ‘Pretty Things’ in Penistone for doing a raffle in aid of Penistone Leisure Centre. We have bought 3 new sets of skating pads with the money, which is helping us to build up our selection of sizes. We now have from XXS to XL – so we can keep everyone safe. Just ask for pads and a helmet when you get your boots.
As a volunteer run Leisure Centre, we are always grateful to all the kind people in the community who offer us help in so many ways. Just talk to any of the volunteers if you have spotted things we need that you could help us with.
