Keen teen support helps keep leisure centre running

11/01/2019 by Beverley Addy Leave a Comment

Our younger helpers are core to keeping things rolling at Penistone Leisure Centre especially in our skating sessions.

The teen helpers are a valued part of our volunteer team and our latest recruit is Isabella Pye, who is in year 9 at school.

Isabella told us: “I learnt to roller blade at the leisure centre, through the lessons and public sessions.

“I really enjoy the opportunities to skate in a safe, indoors area and now enjoy the teen discos too. I love it, especially the teen discos with my friends.!”

When she started her Duke of Edinburgh bronze award at school, she was keen to volunteer at Penistone Leisure Centre during skating sessions.

“My favourite parts about volunteering are the times when I can help and support the younger children with their skating skills. I like meeting new people and I can do this whilst volunteering at the centre.,” added Isabella.

She also enjoys playing piano, art and history and her other hobbies include shopping, listening to music and playing tennis.
