International Women’s Day!

12/02/2020 by Frances Greenwood Leave a Comment

It’s International Women’s Day on Sunday 8th March 2020, and we’re delighted to be joining forces with Penistone parkrun to encourage the women of the Penistone area to partake in the brilliant sporting opportunities we have on offer! It’s all part of the ‘This Girl Can’ Campaign.

If you’ve never been to Penistone parkrun or aren’t even sure what one is- it’s a weekly, timed 5km run/walk which takes place every Saturday at 9am. It is run by volunteers (like us!) completely free of charge and is incredibly inclusive and welcoming. It starts at Penistone Showground (at the skate park) and the route runs around the field and then up the Trans Pennine trail to the crossroads at Millhouse Green and back again. You get your time by downloading a barcode from their website (just print it out and bring it along with you) and your time will be emailed to you a couple of hours later! Come along the week after and beat your time… Be warned, it’s addictive!

On Saturday 7th March, Penistone parkrun are encouraging as many women as possible to come along at 9am and join in to run, walk or volunteer you choose! The team are putting on refreshments at the bowling club afterwards where there will be representatives and information about lots of the local classes/sporting opportunities we have on offer in the area.

Penistone Leisure Centre will have a display with information about our big refurbishment project, classes and gym.

So come along and join in! We’d love to see you there!

Please SHARE this post, or TAG the friend you’re planning on bringing!
