We are planning skating sessions every day, Monday to Friday from 2-4pm (Barnsley schools holiday) along with our usual Friday night, Saturday and Sunday sessions. There are also extra skating sessions in the Kirklees Easter holiday fortnight. You can see the full Easter Timetable.
Tuesdays will be for fast skaters (able to get round the hall at a reasonable speed, children and adults) and Thursdays and Saturdays are for families, which will be set up as slower sessions with the beginner mats out.
Friday nights (8-10pm) are for young people at secondary school, aged 11+. Anyone aged 11+ can come to any session (except families) unaccompanied, we just ask that you fill in a contact form for them. We will then issue them with a membership card they can bring to future sessions, to show we have their contact details.
Monday, Wednesday and Friday are for everyone – children, parents, grandparents, teens and friends. Depending on who comes, we might get the beginner mats out or put some cones down the middle to skate around. There are always snacks and drinks available in our tuck shop and we have a cafe area where you can sit to eat.
We have a lot of volunteers signed up to cover skating sessions, thank-you very much to those people – but we still need more. Your children all get into the session for free and you get free drinks. Alternatively, people who wish to volunteer without bringing children can have a week’s gym pass as our thanks instead. New volunteers will always be on at the same time as someone more experienced. If you could help out on the door, handing out skates or in the tuck shop, please contact us by email, phone Rachel on 0794 7991727 or sign up in any skating session.
