Easter Holiday Activities

April 3, 2017 Leave a Comment

We have lots of skating on this Easter to keep you busy and active, and a special Art Explosion class with a Japanese cherry blossom and origami theme. Easter is from 8th-23rd April.

Art Explosion

Art Explosion is run by local artists Ruth and Jude and has become a holiday feature at Penistone Leisure Centre. Art Explosion is £10 for 4hrs and is on Tuesday 11th April from 9:30am-1:30pm with a Japanese theme including cherry blossom and origami. This class is for children aged 6-10yrs and there are a maximum of 20 places. Bring a packed lunch which everyone will eat together. Snacks and drinks will also be for sale in the Leisure Centre tuck shop. To book please contact Ruth on 07970 109161.

Skating - Davy jumpingSkating Skills

This holiday, skating skills is on Wed 12th April – 11:30am-1:30pm. Skating Lessons are run in 6 week blocks by Rachel and Davy, and this holiday session is a little extra – either to try it out or to learn some new skills. We cater for anyone from beginners upwards and can include anything from falling over safely to jumping, crossovers and backwards powerslides – depending on who comes. We play lots of games and have lunch together in the middle, so please bring a pack up. The session costs £6 and is for anyone aged 5 and up, including parents who often join in with their children. To book please contact Rachel on 0794 7991727.

Skating Sessions

  • Mon-Fri 2-4pm (this Wednesday holiday session replaces the usual 4-6pm after school session)
  • Fri 8-10pm (as in term time) **NOT 14th or 21st April**
  • Sat 12-2pm (as in term time)
  • Sun 10am-12 (as in term time) **But NOT Easter Sunday**

These public skating sessions are £2 per skater, including skate hire. Snacks and drinks are available.

Note: Thursday and Saturday are for families and slower skaters. Friday night (8-10pm) is for young people in school years 7-10 only. The other days are open to everyone.

As a community run organisation, skating sessions are all run by volunteers. We need 3 people to run each session in the holidays and are still a few people short, making it harder work for the volunteers who are there. We need one person to sign skaters in, one to hand out skates and one in the tuck shop – so if you can help out, please let Rachel know on 0794 7991727. If you volunteer, you get free cuppas and all of your children skate in that session for free. You also get a party card to record each session you volunteer at, and 12 sessions means you can book a free party at the centre.

We were very pleased to hear on Friday, that our funding application to Penistone Ward Alliance was successful!
