Please DO NOT attend Penistone Leisure Centre if you suspect you may have Covid 19 or you are feeling unwell with a high temperature or persistent cough.
We’ve had lots of enquiries about what we will be requiring people to do from Monday around the relaxing of the Covid-19 Restrictions in the UK. We have conducted surveys and the decisions made have been based on the information collected, as well as other factors, but could be subject to change if necessary. The survey is still open – please complete the survey below.
What’s changing?
You are no longer required to wear masks in the communal areas of the Leisure Centre with the exception being during the times that we are an NHS venue (Mondays 8:30am-4:30pm, Wednesdays 8:30-4:30pm and Thursdays 12:30-4:30pm and the last Friday of the month from 12:30-4pm). Please wear a face covering if you are using the centre during NHS times, as we are considered the same as a hospital venue during these times, and the people attending the NHS sessions may be clinically vulnerable. We will put a sign outside on the days/times that masks must be worn to remind you before you enter.
Limits on numbers in sessions- For classes, this will be up to the individual coaches to decide what they feel is safe in their session. Please contact your coach directly with any queries. For public gym sessions, we are increasing numbers in the main gym from 6 to 10, and cardio room from 2 to 3. If you would like to come at a ‘Covid Secure’ time, we suggest coming during the NHS sessions above, as everyone will wear masks in the shared areas (unless they are clinically exempt) and we will keep gym numbers at the lower levels. Public Skating sessions will change from 20 people to 30 skaters.
You no longer HAVE to book your sessions in advance (unless its a class, in which case please check with the instructor), but if you would like to ensure we can accommodate your booking we recommend that you continue to book via the website if possible. There are no longer limits on group sizes per booking. Please check in when you arrive.
What’s not changing?
We will be keeping up the ventilation, extra cleaning, hand sanitiser available and asking people to wipe down the gym equipment they have used. We are also asking that people are considerate of other centre users and maintain their distance.
If you feel more comfortable, you are welcome to still wear your mask at our venue.
You can still book a private session for table tennis, badminton, skating or any other activity (within reason) in one of our rooms. See our website for availability.
Please give us your opinion on our survey below, and talk to us if we can do anything to help make you feel comfortable to attend the centre. We can advise on quieter times etc.
Here’s one of our fantastic volunteers Mick, talking you through what to expect in terms of Covid Secure measures at Penistone Leisure Centre. Please take a few minutes to watch this short video before you attend the centre for sessions.
