We Are Re-Opening for Gym, Children’s Classes and Single Household Activities From Monday 12th April

April 6, 2021 by Frances Greenwood Leave a Comment

We were so pleased to hear the Prime Minister announce yesterday that we are on track to reopen next week on Monday 12th April for selected activities. You can find specific information about different sessions listed below.

Gym

From Monday we are able to open the Gyms again with limited capacity and restrictions in place. As before, booking in advance via our website will be essential, and numbers will be limited to 6 people in the main gym and 2 people in the cardio room at a time. When you arrive, please wear your mask and use the provided hand gel. You will now need to check in at the main reception and you can access the gym via the new link corridor. Gym sessions are bookable 3 days in advance, so the first day you will be able to book will be Friday 9th April.

Children’s Classes

We’re delighted to be able to welcome our children’s classes back week commencing Monday 12th April. This means that Little Leopards Baby Massage can resume in person sessions from Thursday 15th April and KarateZone from Friday 23rd April. Rachel will be in touch with her Skating Lesson students to confirm when classes will resume.

Private Hire Skating/Badminton/Table Tennis etc.

We are also able to open for Single Household Activities indoors from 12th April. This means that you can hire our Cafe/Studio space, 1/3 of the hall or 2/3 of the hall for badminton, skating, ride on toys or whatever you like really! These sessions are bookable now, so you can find them on our website. So why not hire the hall for a private skate disco with the kids? Or thrash your partner at Badminton?

Adult Classes

We are not able to resume adult classes at the present time. We are working towards the government’s date of Monday 17th May for adult classes to re-start. Please watch this space, and rest assured that we are as keen to get them restarted as you are!

Keeping You Safe

Before you attend the centre, please make sure you have familiarised yourself with the restrictions we have in place to keep everyone safe. One of our fantastic volunteers Mick, has made this short video to explain what to expect when you arrive.

The Leisure Centre is Closed from Tuesday 05.01.21

January 4, 2021 by Frances Greenwood Leave a Comment

Following the Prime Minister’s announcement this evening, the Leisure Centre will be closed for all sessions with the exception of NHS Cardiac Rehabilitation.

If you have a current gym pass, it will be paused, and you can resume it after lockdown is eased. You will not lose any money, or sessions.

If you have a booking for private hire or sports coming up, you can either carry them forward as credit for a future session, or request a refund.

It’s going to take us a few days to get things in order, so please bear with us whilst we get everyone sorted.

Please contact [email protected] with any queries.

Please don’t forget that many of our coaches are offering their classes via online sessions, so you don’t have to let your fitness slip, or miss out on your new years resolutions! We’ll share links to the online classes tomorrow.

Take care and we’ll see you on the other side…

Tier 3 Update 26.11.20

November 26, 2020 by Frances Greenwood Leave a Comment

Further to the chancellor’s most recent announcement that the whole of South Yorkshire will be within the tier 3 of the Coronavirus restrictions here’s what this means for us at Penistone Leisure Centre-

  • The Gym will be open from Wed 2nd December with the same strict restrictions in place- limited numbers, advance bookings only, hand sanitising upon entry, increased cleaning and masks to be worn when not exercising/in shared areas of the building.
  • Disability sport, and supervised sport for under 18s can continue (so Classes like Karate and Skating lessons for children can restart)
  • Adult classes are prohibited under tier 3 restrictions, so we are not able to get back to our full timetable of classes.
  • Open for single household/bubbles games of table tennis/badminton (we believe- just waiting for confirmation)
  • Awaiting confirmation as to whether roller-skating sessions can continue.
  • Volunteering can continue.

Details will be coming soon about how to book the activities that will be restarting.
