PenActive- The Youth Club For Older People

PenActive is our ‘Youth Club for Older People’! Aimed at people aged 60+ the session is a fun and friendly session with time for socialising as well as some exercise too!

PenActive usually starts with a cuppa and catch up in the cafe, then leads on to the activity! If you don’t fancy this week’s activity, there is open access to the Gym for our 60+ gym session. The sessions are led by the attendees, so we look to you to tell us what activities you would like to do the following week. Before lockdown, we had sessions including the following activities- Table Tennis, Badminton, Walking Netball, Roller Skating, Uni-Hoc, Boxercise, Chair Aerobics, Dancing, Karate and more!

Volunteer Gym Instructor Alison will be available to give anyone who needs one a gym induction, and can help you to put together a training plan to suit your abilities.

COVID Guidelines

Arriving at PenActive

    Please maintain social distancing whilst queueing at reception if necessary
    Please arrive at PenActive wearing a face covering unless you have a valid medical exemption. These must remain on throughout the session unless you are eating, drinking or exercising.
    If you have not been to PenActive before, you may be asked to fill in a Physical Activity Readiness Questionnaire (PAR-Q) to ensure that you are fit and well enough to join in.
    The volunteer on reception will take your contact details which will be held for track and trace purposes.
    Payment for the session is currently preferred by contactless card payment to avoid the volunteers having to handle cash.

During PenActive

    Please note that groups of no more than 6 people should be allowed to mix at a time. You will be assigned a group when you arrive, please stay in this group throughout your session.
    Please follow the directions of the session instructor
    If you don't want to join in this week's activity, that's absolutely fine! You are welcome to use the gym, or play a game of table tennis or board games etc instead.
