About Us

Penistone Leisure Centre is ‘led by the community, for the community’.

The Leisure Centre is run almost entirely by volunteers and is led by a board of 7 trustees. We operate as the charity ‘Sporting Penistone’ (Charity number 1157786).

The Leisure Centre receives no regular funding from central or local government, so is sustained by it’s own income, one off pots of grant funding and generous donations of time and money from the local community.

In 2020/21 the Leisure Centre underwent a £350k refurbishment with thanks to funding from ‘European Agricultural Fund for Rural Development’ and ‘BMBC Section 106’, and many other funders which has updated the facilities to safeguard the centre for the future.

Mission and Values-

Our mission is to enable and inspire greater levels of health and fitness in our local community and to be a place for people to come together.

We aim to be a venue that welcomes everyone as both centre users or as volunteers.

Opening Hours-

The Leisure Centre is open 7 days a week for Gym, Classes, Sports, Parties, Private Hire and NHS Cardiac/Pulmonary Rehabilitation.

Hi Robert, yes you can. Are you looking at daytimes, weekends or evenings? And is it a regular booking or one-off?
    Thanks.

Hi a but of an odd request. I love in Penistone and am trying to find a place I can take a four year old to play on crash mats and practice hand stands, climb ropes, jump horses etc… Any facilities there?

      Hi John,
The hall can be hired per hour for whatever use you see fit (within reason). We have crash mats and plenty of space but no hanging ropes or jump horses. For room hire you need to contact Amanda at [email protected]

      Hi Yvonne,
Classes are paid for individually unless a particular coach has a deal for a set of classes. It will say so on the class page if they do. Either way, all classes are paid for when you arrive.
      Thanks,
      Rachel
